Scholarships
Supporting young pilots pursuing a professional aviation career in the US or Canada.
This is an exciting development for the Honourable Company of Air Pilots NA Region that will support young pilots pursuing a professional aviation career in the US or Canada.
The Foundation was started in early 2023 by HCAP NA member, Mark Tousey. The Company has a long history of encouraging young people in the UK to embark on a career in aviation through providing scholarships for gliding, PPLs and flight instructor training, but until now, the NA Region had not yet had that provision.
Mark set out to change this and shortly after, the first board meeting was convened of the HCAP Aerospace Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (ASF). It is founded as a US-based charity, the board comprising Liveryman Peter Allen, Upper Freeman Dave White, Liveryman Lucy Young, Liveryman Katherine Hodge and Liveryman Mark Tousey.
The ASF board is delighted to announce that the U.S. Internal Revenue Service approved the board’s application to become a 501(c)(3) organization in the spring of 2024.
Armed with this IRS approval, the board is now pleased to open the foundation to donations.
The ASF is to begin granting scholarships of $5,000 each in 2025.
Applications are currently closed. Please check back regularly for the program launch when forms will be available to download from this page.
Scholarships will be exclusively focused on those students who already have their commercial license or who will have completed it by the time the scholarship is paid out and who are working toward their ATPL or type ratings.
All contributions are tax-deductible for US taxpayers. The ASF Board will be establishing a Canadian foundation in the next year or so to provide Canadian donors similar tax benefits. In the meantime, Canadian donors are most welcome to make a donation to ASF without tax deductibility. All donations will be acknowledged with a receipt for tax purposes.
